KL Rahul to CSK, and Not KKR
While DNA can be attributed to this particular IPL 2026 trade news, nothing can be said for sure. It seems the team is no longer interested in securing the services of RR skipper Sanju Samson, but KL Rahul is their preferred choice now. Maybe even a potential successor to MS Dhoni in the team.
Apart from that, why would Chennai want to have Rahul? It seems, because he is adaptable. Apart from being a batter, who can bat anywhere in the order, he can keep wickets, and is captaincy material too. So, that covers CSK well in every aspect. Especially given, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s captaincy hasn’t been the most impressive in the two years, he has led the side.
IPL Trade Rumours Take New Turn
If one talks about KKR, they could be looking for a replacement for a bad keeper choice in 2025, and also maybe get rid of Ajinkya Rahane the skipper. Abhishek Nayar is believed to be close to Rahul, who could play an instrumental role in bringing him to the team.
Meanwhile, RR is one team, who need to be really careful about who they retain, and who they let go. Sanju Samson is an asset for them, and if a trade deal is struck eventually, with any team, that could cause them much harm. Them letting go Jos Buttler, was one of the biggest reasons for their failure this year.
