Rashid Khan hasn’t been in the best of touch. After four matches, the Gujarat Titans (GT) spinner has taken just 1 wicket with an average of 143 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. His economy and strike rate aren’t much better, 10.21 and 84. Knowing he isn’t at his best with his main skill. Rashid decided to make up for his with the bat in hand.
Rashid Khan’s blitz ended by Yashasvi Jaiswal
Having earned himself a name for his power hitting at the back end, Rashid scored 12 (3) in his short stay against the Rajasthan Royals. He started with a six, stepping out and hitting Tushar Deshpande down the ground. He was bounced the next ball, but a top edge got him a boundary.
GT wanted a good end to their innings, and Rashid had done that already. But he wasn’t stopping. Deshpande bowled outside off to go away from the spinner’s hitting zone. Rashid followed the ball, but instead of muscling it, he decided to go for a no-look shot. He didn’t get the elevation or power he needed, but the ball was still on its way to the boundary.
That’s when Yashasvi Jaiswal dove to claim an outstanding catch at backward square leg. The RR opener leaped to his right, got both hands to the balls, and made a sensational catch. Yes, Rashid had done his bit by then, but had Jaiswal not taken the catch, GT might have hurt RR even more.
