Jammu and Kashmir pacer Umran Malik is confident of making an instant impact on his comeback in the Raji Trophy 2025/26

After spending a lot of time on the sidelines due to injuries, Umran Malik is eyeing a strong comeback in the upcoming season of the Ranji Trophy. The pacer did return to action earlier in August as he participated in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament. Malik, who made his debut in 2023, missed the entire 2024/25 domestic season and IPL 2025 as he was battling injuries.

In an interview with Times of India, Umran revealed that he had prepared well for the Ranji Trophy season by taking part in the Buchi Babu Tournament and local tournaments. The pacer stated that he has taken good care of his body and had trained well. Reflecting on his time off the field, Malik said that the break had taught him how to manage his body, adding that that phase had passed and that he was feeling much better now.

Injuries are part of a fast bowler’s life. Last year, I got injured for the first time and missed the entire season. But that break taught me a lot about how to manage my body. That phase is over now, and my body feels much better,” Malik said. “I’ve done everything a fast bowler needs to do. I’ve trained hard — every day, every morning, every evening. Because of that, my body feels stronger, and I’m looking forward to playing as much cricket as possible,” Malik said.

The Jammu and Kashmir pacer also credited former India coach Abhishek Nayar for helping him out during his rehab. Malik was last seen in action in IPL 2024 where he played just one match and finished with zero wickets to his name.

“Working with him has helped. He keeps players in the right frame of mind. The way he breaks things down helps you focus on what really matters,” Malik said
