India team had recently created history after they won their maiden Women's World Cup, beating South Africa in final.

The Women’s World Cup 2025 win is certainly bound to bring a few changes to Indian cricket, and it might have begun already. Now, just a week after Harmanpreet Kaur’s team lifted their maiden ICC trophy, there are reports that the team will get their first foreign strength and conditioning coach.

New S&C coach for Indian team

As per BCCI sources, Bangladesh S&C coach Nathan Kiely could be in, and might join the CoE. On the other hand, AI Harrsha, who is current coach, might just have something else planned for him. Kiely, meanwhile has worked as assistant coach with the NSW side in Australia.

Till now, all the S&C coaches who have coached the Indian women’s team, have been associated with CoE, with Kiely likely to be the first overseas recruitment in the department. Recently, two other S&C coaches also came on-board at the CoE — Pratyush Agarwal and Amit Vengurlekar.

Busy schedule ahead

While Agarwal had a stint with DC, Vengurlekar had spent some time with LSG, in the IPL. Now, the Indian women’s team would enjoy a small break, before the WPL 2026, and post that, they will tour in Feb for T20I and ODI series. Post that, they will be up against England in an away tour till July.

Also, there will be another World Cup next year, the T20 World Cup 2026 in June. Talking about the WPL, recently all teams had come up with their retention lists, with some notable omissions. The biggest name not to be retained, was that of Deepti Sharma by UP Warriorz. She would be seen in the WPL Auction now.
