India vs Ireland T20 series to be prelude of Asian Games 2023

The Men's squad for the Asian Games 2023 is a second-string one, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. The men's matches will take place from September 28 to October 7.

India vs Ireland T20 series is set to be a good preparation for the Indian players who will go to Asian Games 2023 in China.

Following a month-long hiatus, the Indian Cricket Team is currently busy as anything. India are engaged in a multi-format series against the West Indies, in which they are playing two Tests, three One-Day Internationals, and five Twenty20 Internationals in the Caribbean.

While Rohit Sharma remains India’s Test and ODI captain, Hardik Pandya has been given the T20I captaincy since the 20-over World Cup in 2022. However, there may be a new captain in the format, as Pandya appears unlikely to play in the Ireland series.

According to PTI, Pandya and Shubman Gill are unlikely to play in the Ireland T20I series. The rationale for this is to control workload, as the team will be playing a lot of cricket in the coming months. However, nothing has been finalised.

There have also been talks that Jasprit Bumrah will return for the India vs Ireland series. If this is true, then it’s very likely that the express pacer will lead the Indian Team in Ireland.

As there is traveling involved and only a short turnaround of three days before one flies from Florida to Dublin, it is likely that BCCI will play the second-string team that will also participate in Asian Games 2023.

Following a month-long hiatus following India’s defeat in the WTC final in June, the Indian team is back in action, and in a big manner. The two Tests vs West Indies will conclude on July 24, followed by a three-match ODI series beginning on July 27. From August 3 to August 13, the two teams will also play five Twenty20 Internationals in the Caribbean and the United States.

From August 18 to August 23, the Men in Blue will travel to Ireland for a three-match T20I series, followed by the Asia Cup on August 30. To keep Pandya fresh, he will most likely be rested for the Irish series.

This India vs Ireland series will also be a good test for the players who will take part in Asian Games 2023.
