So, after the Women’s World Cup 2025, Team India will play their first series against Sri Lanka from December 21. For the five match series, the BCCI has persisted with Harmanpreet Kaur as the captain with Smriti Mandhana as he deputy. The squad is largely the same, barring two-three names.
IND vs SL series from Dec 21
Radha Yadav was the most prominent omission from the team, but there is no clarity if she is axed, or being rested. Instead U-19 player Vaishnavi Sharma has been picked. And instead of Uma Chetry as the second keeper, U-19 player G Kamalini has been named.
Pratika Rawal could have come in perhaps, who isn’t generally in the T20I mix, but an ankle injury kept her out of the loop. She is only expected to be fit in time for the WPL 2026. One player who continues to be sidelined is Titas Sadhu. The promising pacer has been struggling with injuries, and has not been in the scheme of things for a while.
Now, given that the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is in only a few months away (June), Team India could be trying out a few more new players, especially from the U19 crop. The first two matches of the series will be played in Vizag, while the remaining will be played in Trivandrum.
