The India cricket team has made two changes for their second T20 World Cup 2026 match against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Abhishek Sharma, who played the USA game with a high fever and a stomach bug, has been rested.
Sanju Samson gets golden chance
The 25-year-old had to be admitted to the hospital in Delhi and was discharged on the eve of the India vs Namibia match. Abhishek’s stomach infection had worsened, and Abhishek had to be administered drips for immediate relief. He’s lost weight and hasn’t trained since the USA game.
That’s why Team India has brought Sanju Samson as Abhishek’s replacement. Suryakumar Yadav confirmed the change after losing the toss in Delhi and being put in to bat first. Samson hadn’t played in the first match, with Ishan Kishan getting preferred over him, but now he’s got the chance to make his case.
“Abhishek is still not fine; he will miss a game or two. Sanju comes in, similar batter, explosive,” Suryakumar told Ravi Shastri.
Bumrah back, Siraj dropped
On the eve of the India vs Namibia match, Tilak Varma had confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will be available for selection. Like Abhishek, Bumrah was under the weather. The pacer is fit for selection, and Mohammed Siraj has to sit out. “Bumrah comes in for Siraj,” Surya added.
