India batter KL Rahul has shown some great stability at the top of the order, when it comes to Tests, in the last two series away from home. In Australia he came up with crucial fifties, and now recently against England, he went on to score two tons and two more fifties in the series. That has made him team’s go-to opener in the away Tests.
KL Rahul preps for West Indies series
But there is a lot to be done when it comes to Tests in India. In 20 Tests he averages only 39 at home, something he must be eagerly waiting to improve upon. With the West Indies Tests around the corner, he is showing signs of decent form. On Thursday, he came up with a classy fifty for IND A vs AUS A, in a massive chase of 412 runs.
KL Rahul maintained a strike-rate close to 90, and ensures to give IND A a rousing start in the near-impossible chase at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. He even forged an 80-run partnership with N Jagadeesan (36), who too was picked for the upcoming WI tour, that too at a blistering rate of over 4.5.
Ready to score runs in India
Interestingly, Rahul had failed in the first innings of the AUS A encounter, and could only score 11 runs. That meant, IND A’s innings too folded under 200, giving a big advantage to the visitors. But perhaps better application in the second innings made sure that the home side were better-equipped for the chase.
Earlier on day three, Mohammed Siraj, Yash Thakur picked two wickets each, while Gurnoor Brar, and Manav Suthar picked three apiece, to restrict AUS A to 185 only.
