India cricket team have decided to keep their playing XI unchanged for the IND vs WI 2nd Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Captain Shubman Gill finally won a toss and opted to bat first. The hosts have retained the same line-up in a bid to replicate their performance from the 1st Test where they handed the West Indies an innings and 140-run thrashing.
India playing XI for IND vs WI 2nd Test
Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill(c), Dhruv Jurel(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
Jaiswal will be hoping to all guns blazing after falling for just 36 runs in the previous game. A big partnership with Rahul will provide the perfect start for the hosts. All eyes will be on India’s number 3 batter Sai Sudharsan and captain Gill. The Tamil Nadu batter managed to score just 7 runs in Ahmedabad and will be under pressure to not fail again in this game. While the team management has decided to continue backing Sai, it won’t be long before he goes the Karun Nair way if he flops yet again.
Gill, on the other hand, will be aiming to register a triple-figure knock at home for the first time since becoming the Test captain. The Punjab batter had a golden chance to do so in the IND vs WI 1st Test after scoring a half-century but failed to convert it into a big knock.
In the bowling department, the team has decided not to give Bumrah rest. He will spearhead the pace attack along with Siraj. The spin unit will comprise of the trio of Kuldeep, Jadeja and Sundar which means Axar Patel will continue to warm the bench.
