The Indian players displayed ordinary cricket in the Women's World Cup 2025, and as a result, fell in ICC rankings.

In what was nothing short of a disappointing week for the Indian cricket team, they went on to suffer back-to-back defeats in the Women’s World Cup 2025, against South Africa and Australia. Yes, there were some individual brilliant performers, and that has seen a significant change in their rankings, while the mediocre performers slipped down considerably.

Harmanpreet, Jemimah & Deepti slip

As per the latest ICC rankings release on Tuesday, while Smriti Mandhana continued to occupy the top spot in the list of batters, Richa Ghosh, who scored 90-odd vs SA, rose eight spots to no. 27. But then Harmanpreet Kaur slipped two places to 18th now, Deepti Sharma fell by eight places to be 25th and Jemimah Rodrigues four places, to be 26th.

In bowling, Deepti Sharma remained India’s best at 6th position. Sneh Rana fell to 21st spot, but Sree Charani, who has been largely economical in the World Cup, rose 33 spots to be 40th now. India’s problem so far in the tournament has been, playing with only five proper bowlers, which has led to their downfall, and have now slipped to fourth in the Women’s World Cup points table.

Aussies on top

Meanwhile, Aussies, who are having a wonderful tournament; Kim Garth is ranked 3rd in bowling rankings, followed by Annabel Sutherland at 8. Alana King is at 9. With her innings of 142, Australia skipper Alyssa Healy rose nine spots to be no. 4th in the batting rankings.

There has been no change in the team rankings though. AUS continue their journey on the top with 165 points, followed by England at 127, and India at 124. South Africa is fourth at 96 points only.
