Mohammed Siraj suffered a right shoulder injury while fielding and walked off the field in the last session on day four of the Guwahati Test. In the 76th over of the South African 2nd innings, the pacer was stationed at fine leg when Tristan Stubbs pulled Nitish Kumar Reddy towards the deep backward square-leg region.
Injury scare for Siraj
Siraj came running in and put in a dive towards his left. The quick saved two runs but, while rolling, injured his bowling shoulder. At first, Siraj didn’t get up. He just winced in pain. The Indian physio arrived as quickly as possible, and soon Siraj walked off the field with Devdutt Paddikal coming in as his fielding substitute.
But after just one over, Siraj returned to the field. In the 78th over, Stubbs hit the ball towards him again. This time, it was aerial and the pacer failed to grab the catch. However, the good bit was that Siraj wasn’t injured. For a minute there, the fans were worried.
