Sarfaraz Khan has fallen down the pecking order once again in India’s Test match plans. Just a year since his fighting 150 vs New Zealand, the Mumbai batter finds himself out of favour. The lattest blow came on Tuesday after he was ignored for IND-A vs SA-A series starting later this month.
Sarfaraz Khan’s Test comeback takes another hit
Sarfaraz Khan was not named in the India A squad for the two games against South Africa A. The two games serve as preparation for the IND vs SA Test series set to kick off next month. Sarfaraz had missed out on the IND vs WI tests with an injury, but has since returned to full fitness.
The Mumbai batter has been chasing his Test dream, undergoing a full transformation in the off season. Sarfaraz shed a lot of weight and scored a truck of load runs in the build up to the domestic season. However, his injury absence has seen him falling down the order with selectors preferring Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal made the squad for the West Indies Tests but did not play.
Instead of featuring against the Proteas, Sarfaraz will turn out for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy. He did not have the best of games in the season opener but will hope to turn it around as the season progresses.
