The Duleep Trophy 2025 will be held at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru from August 28 to September 15. Last year, the six original zonal teams were changed to four teams (India A, B, C, and D). But the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had decided to revert to the old zonal format during their Apex Council Meeting in March.

Can Karun Nair play in Irani Cup?
Karun Nair hasn’t been selected for the South Zone for the Duleep Trophy 2025. So, he won’t be playing there. But will he play in the Irani Cup 2025? The veteran batter was a major part of Vidarbha’s title run in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. This should mean he will be eligible to play against the Rest of India.
However, Nair has decided to move back to Karnataka. He was dropped by his home team in 2022 and then featured for Vidarbha in 2023 and 2024. After his returns improved, Nair will be going back to Karnataka. If he has already signed a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to leave Vidarbha, he won’t be able to play for them in the Irani Cup.
Irani Cup will be played in Nagpur from October 1 to 5.
