"Don't think there's any problem: Sitanshu Kotak continues to back Rohit Sharma amidst poor form

Rohit Sharma's future in India Cricket Team is under scrutiny after poor form in recent times

The India Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma has been under immense pressure after a pile of poor performances. India’s new batting coach Sitanshu Kotak however has continued to back Hitman claiming Rohit Sharma has “no problem”. However, Rohit’s performance is being constantly monitored. In the previous game of the IND vs ENG ODI series, he scored just 2 runs, which doesn’t help his case.

But Sitanshu Kotak isn’t worried about Rohit’s form despite the ICC Champions Trophy being barely a week away. He claims that he is not bothered about it and believes that ODI is Rohit’s strongest format and will soon score big runs.

No problem with Rohit’s form – Kotak

“I personally don’t think there’s any problem. The last 3 one-dayers Rohit has played, he has scored 58, 64 and 35. The guy has got 31 one-day hundreds. Sometimes whenever there’s a little lean patch, I don’t think I’d be worried or thinking about their form,” Kotak told in the press conference.

Kotak continues to back Rohit Sharma. He claims that the players are going through a lean patch and thus shouldn’t be too worried. He continued to keep his faith in the Hitman claiming he has 31 ODI tons. Kotak even backed Rohit in scoring decent runs on his last 3 ODI innings.

“Yes in Tests in Australia it was a tough time. About one-dayers, he’s always been scoring runs so not concerned,” Kotak added.

He further claimed that Tests and ODIs are different formats and thus they shouldn’t be mixed. As things stand, Rohit’s form in red-ball cricket has been poor. He performed poorly against the Kiwis and then the Border Gavaskar Trophy. In the IND vs AUS Tests, he managed to score 31 runs in 5 innings, raising concerns about his future.
