CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad has finally shown some form now, as he went on to slam a ton against Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, in the Buchi Babu tournament in Chennai. It is needless to say that the 28-year-old needed to get some runs under his belt, in what could be a make-or-break upcoming domestic season for him.
Ruturaj Gaikwad & Arshin Kulkarni Hit 100s
After failing in the first match against Chhattisgarh, where he scored only 1 & 11, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a brisk century to put his team on top. He came into bat when his team was 64/1 and then went on to add 220 runs along with Arshin Kulkarni, who too slammed a ton. The latter was eventually out for 146 from 190 deliveries.
Meanwhile Gaikwad was out for 133, after hitting 10 fours and four sixes. In fact, all his four sixes came in the same over, against bowler Aman Jainwal. What worked wonders for the team was, he maintained a strike-rate of over 90, that kept the run-rate well over 4. That said, Maharashtra are still looking for their first win in the Buchi Babu Trophy 2025, after losing to Chhattisgarh by 35 runs, and then conceding a lead of 156 to TNCA President XI in the second.
Sarfaraz Khan Shows Serious Form
In another match, between Mumbai and Haryana, Sarfaraz Khan continued his solid form and scored yet another ton in the tournament. His brother Musheer Khan could only score 30 though. Spinner Nikhil Kashyap was at his very best as he picked up a fifer, with three four wickets to go.
Meanwhile, the tournament started on August 18, and will culminate on August 28. Buchi Babu sees matches spanning over just two days, where both teams get 90 overs each only for batting.
