Chennai Super Kings’ latest recruit Kartik Sharma had revealed how he turned into a six-hitting machine thanks to his father. The upcoming talent from Rajasthan became the joint-most expensive uncapped player in the history of the IPL after being picked up for the whooping amount along with Prashant Veer. Following his record sale to CSK, Sharma opened up on how he became a big hitter and revealed his father’s role behind it.
How CSK’s Kartik became a big hitter
Speaking with Jatin Sapru, Kartik claimed that he was forced to hit big sixes during training as his father never liked defensive shots. He further revealed that while his coach made him practice defence during net sessions, his father made him to sweat it out in hitting sixes after his formal practice.
“My father did it because he liked sixes a lot and had threatened me that he would hit me if I don’t smash sixes. He said I would have to hit each ball out of the stadium and that I would get whacked if I played defence. Sir (his coach) used to make me bat along the ground while my father used to train me to hit sixes in the night,” Kartik Sharma said.
