The Champions Trophy 2025 final, featuring India and New Zealand, is scheduled for Sunday, March 9, at the Dubai International Stadium. This marks the second time these two teams will compete in the tournament’s final. With the championship title on the line, both teams have the opportunity to earn significant financial rewards. In this article, we will do a comparison between the Champions Trophy prize money and the IPL prize money. Let us take a look.
Champions Trophy prize money
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a substantial prize pool of USD 6.9 million (approximately Rs 60.06 crore) for the Champions Trophy 2025. Every team participating in the tournament is guaranteed to receive USD 125,000 (around Rs 1.08 crore) just for their participation. Additionally, teams will earn USD 34,000 (Rs 2.95 crore) for each win during the group stage.
If India clinches the CT 2025 finals, they will earn an impressive USD 2.24 million (approximately Rs 19.49 crore), while the runner-up will take home USD 1.12 million (around Rs 9.74 crore). Should India emerge victorious, their total earnings would amount to USD 2.46 million (approximately Rs 21.4 crore), including their winnings from the group stage. Conversely, if India does not succeed, they will still leave with USD 1.34 million (around Rs 11.6 crore).
IPL prize money
After winning the IPL 2024 trophy, KKR also bagged a whopping prize money of Rs 20 crore, while SRH were given Rs 13 crore. The total prize money IPL had reserved for the occasion was Rs 46.5 crore, which wasn’t only distributed among the winners and the runners-up.
Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who finished 3rd and 4th in the points table, respectively, also took home a fair amount of prize money. Sanju Samson’s side were given Rs 7 crore for finishing third, while RCB got Rs 6.5 crore.
