Champions Trophy 2025 records 540 crore views in India

Champions Trophy 2025 set new viewership records with 540 crore views and 11,000 crore minutes of watch time in India.

Soon after the merger between Jio Cinema and Disney + Hotstar, JioHotstar achieved over 540 crore views and almost 11,000 crore minutes of watch time during the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, with their live streaming overall.

The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 was a great journey. The numbers show how much love people have for cricket and how digital streaming is growing in India. According to Kiran Mani, who is the CEO of Digital at JioStar, the peak viewing during the matches was 6.12 crore people watching at the same time.

Record-breaking final

The final cricket match was thrilling as India won against New Zealand to grab its third Champions Trophy title. That match alone got 124.2 crore views on JioHotstar. The platform set a record with 6.12 crore people watching it live at the same time. This shows that JioHotstar is leading in live sports streaming in India.

Previously, the record was 5.9 crore viewers during Disney Hotstar’s broadcast of the 2023 Cricket World Cup final. The India vs New Zealand final this year saw 90 crore total views on JioHotstar, surpassing the 66.9 crore views of India’s semi-final win over Australia. The India vs. Pakistan match also had 60.2 crore views.

First tournament after merger

This tournament was the first big cricket event shown after their merger. During the tournament, people from Hindi-speaking places like Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Goa, Punjab, and Haryana watched the most. JioHotstar also had a strong presence in homes with WiFi-connected TVs, with Maharashtra leading the way.

Choices of language gives advantage

For the first time, JioHotstar streamed an ICC tournament in 16 different ways, including nine languages like English, Hindi, Marathi, and more. They even had commentary in Indian Sign Language and Audio Descriptive Commentary. All these efforts show JioHotstar’s commitment to making sports accessible to everyone in India.
