A blockbuster Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash is here. It is the time for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to host the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at a jam-packed M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, CSK would feel that this clash is coming rather earlier than they would like it to. Although CSK have historically dominated RCB (21-13 record), RCB are on a rampant in recent times.
The defending champions have won three of their last four IPL games against the Super Kings. Not just this, CSK are feeling the heat, having already lost their first two games. To make matters worse for them, the five-time champions don’t have their enigma, MS Dhoni, who has been ruled out for the first few weeks of the IPL. Moreover, the batting is suffering from some poor form and inexperience. The absence of Dewald Brevis is making a hard time for CSK, who might have to wait painstakingly for the South African maestro.
Will Dewald Brevis play RCB vs CSK match?
Just like Dhoni, Brevis was ruled out for CSK due to a side strain. While the exact timeline of his comeback wasn’t reported, it was said that Brevis might miss two or three games at the start. Now, the talent, dubbed as ‘Baby AB’, has already missed the first two fixtures, where CSK desperately needed a figure like him.
Sanju Samson hasn’t had the best of starts at CSK. Ruturaj Gaikwad hasn’t done anything special, while Shivam Dube has failed to translate his T20 World Cup form in the IPL as well. Sarfaraz Khan provided magic in the last game but CSK would love to have a freak in Brevis in the side.
However, as per Revsportz journalist Rohit Juglan, Brevis will miss the RCB vs CSK match in Bengaluru. This comes at an interesting time when Brevis was seen practising in the nets. He was hitting the ball well but perhaps hasn’t achieved full fitness yet. Hence, he won’t feature in the high-octane clash but will definitely play CSK’s next game, which will be against the Delhi Capitals at Chepauk on April 11.
Brevis is a superb asset to CSK, having scored 225 runs at an outstanding strike rate of 180.00 in IPL 2025. Fascinatingly, Brevis came in as a replacement last year for Gurjapneet Singh and provided that blitz in a struttering campaign for CSK. His spin-hitting game isn’t an issue, and hence he could be a perfect middle overs enforcer for the side. In his place, CSK can give another chance to Matthew Short.
