Trouble continues to brew for the Australian Cricket Team. Captain Pat Cummins and pacer Josh Hazlewood have been officially ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy. This blow for the Men in Yellow will force them to make 4 changes to the final squad for submission.
Previously, there were huge doubts about the availability of both Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood. Coach Andrew McDonald previously claimed that there was still a possibility of both making it to the ICC event. Meanwhile, Marcus Stoinis too retired from the ODIs.
Australia needs to make 4 changes
Cricket Australia announced that Marcus Stoinis had retired from the 50-over format with immediate effect. More bad news followed with both the pacers of Cummins and Josh Hazlewood missing out on the tournament. On the other hand, previously, Mitchell Marsh had withdrawn himself from the squad with his back injury. Cameron Green too had previously been ruled out with his injuries.
Cummins didn’t take part in the AUS vs SL Test series owing to the birth of his second child. Meanwhile, he continues to recover from his ankle injury, which he sustained during the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Cricket Australia now understands both Cummins and Hazlewood got time but now have failed to make it up in time with their recovery.
It will now be a tough job for the Australia Cricket Team to make 4 changes to their provisional squad. With the final squad submission deadline set on 12th February, it will be a tough job for the Aussie management.
