As per reports, the BCCI has decided in order for an Under-19 or Under-16 cricketer to be eligible to play in the IPL, he should have played at least one first-class match. Previously, the IPL did not have any age restrictions for players or specific rules that made it compulsory for the players to have prior experience in domestic cricket in order to play in the league. The decision was left up to the franchises who could either pick the players after holding trials or via auction and mid-season signings as replacements.
