The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the central contracts for the 2025-26 season for the India men’s and women’s cricket teams.
Demotions
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia had confirmed that the A+ category would be scrapped and that’s exactly what’s happened. As a result, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been demoted to Grade B, while Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja have been moved to Grade A.
Promotions
Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shreyas Iyer have all been promoted to Grade A. Sai Sudharsan has earned himself a contract after making his Test debut last year.
Dropped & snubbed
Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Shami, Mukesh Kumar, Sarfaraz Khan, and Rajat Patidar haven’t been given contracts. The biggest surprise is Kishan’s exclusion, since he recently returned to the T20I team after more than 2 years and is playing in the T20 World Cup 2026.
