BCCI announces Rs 25 lakh each for 10 regular IPL 2024 venues as ‘token of appreciation’ for groundsmen

The 2024 IPL season concluded with Kolkata Knight Riders clinching their third IPL title. However, the BCCI's acknowledgement of the groundsmen ensures that the contributions of those behind the scenes are not forgotten.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acknowledged the invaluable contribution of grounds staff by announcing a special bonus following the culmination of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season.

Appreciation for ‘Unsung Heroes’ by BCCI

In a statement released on Monday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah recognized the tireless efforts of the groundsmen and curators who ensured top-notch playing surfaces throughout the tournament.

“The unsung heroes of our successful T20 season are the incredible ground staff who worked tirelessly to provide brilliant pitches, even in difficult weather conditions,” stated Shah.

Financial reward for groundsmen

As a token of appreciation, the BCCI announced a financial reward for the groundsmen responsible for maintaining pitches at the 10 regular IPL venues. Each staff member will receive a generous sum of Rs 25 lakhs.

Additionally, grounds staff at the three additional venues used during the season will be awarded Rs 10 lakhs each.

This gesture highlights the BCCI’s commitment to recognizing the crucial role that groundsmen play in the smooth running of the IPL.
