The mere decision to let India play against Pakistan in the 2025 T20 World Cup has angered several Indians. In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, most want to cut ties with Pakistan altogether.
The displeasure is expected to be displayed on September 14, when the India vs Pakistan match will happen at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. But it’s already happening.
Only TRP & money matter: Angry fans to Asia Cup broadcasters
As Team India takes on the UAE in Dubai, fans aren’t pleased with the Asia Cup broadcasters. This comes after Pakistani legend Wasim Akram was included in the Sony Sports Network panel for the tournament.
Given that it’s a multinational tournament, it was expected that experts, analysts, and commentators from different countries would be employed. But Indian fans aren’t happy that Akram, a former Pakistan captain, has been employed for India’s opener against the UAE.
Sony India, the Indian arm of Sony Sports Network, is being accused of not caring about most of the Indian lives lost in Pahalgam by employing Akram. The #boycottAsiaCup trend was being used before and is being used on social media again after this incident.
