Catch all the details you need to know about the Arun Jaitley Stadium pitch report before DC vs MI IPL 2026 match.

Delhi Capitals (DC) return home for the first time this season as they host a high-flying Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. For DC, a tricky chase in Lucknow has set the tone, while Mumbai Indians arrive after pulling off a 220-plus chase of their own. They were dominant, unlike DC. Two confident batting units, a typically flat Delhi surface, and an afternoon start. All signs point in one direction. Runs.

DC vs MI Pitch Report: Flat surface and little help for bowlers

The Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as the Feroz Shah Stadium, used to be helpful for spinners. However, it has changed now. It is not a ground where bowlers dictate terms for long. The black soil surface tends to stay true, the ball comes on nicely, and once batters settle, it becomes difficult to contain them.

Recent numbers back that up. The average score in IPL matches here stands at 174, while in the Delhi Premier League 2025 afternoon games, the average first innings score was around 180. The average first-innings winning total is close to 200. There is some assistance early on. Pacers can get a bit of bounce and carry in the first few overs. But that phase doesn’t last post three or four overs. Once the ball softens, it turns into a batting contest.

Spinners do come into play through the middle overs, but not because the pitch is turning square. It is more about control, pace variation and forcing mistakes. Another key factor is the fact that it is an afternoon game. Hence, dew will not play any role. Also, the Delhi has one of the smallest boundaries. Mishits can be sent over the ropes easily.

Pitch number six will be used for this match in the afternoon. For those unaware, it is the same pitch that was used for an SRH vs KKR game, where SunRisers posted 278/3 in May 2025. So, it will be full of runs. Having said that, there are chances of rain in the national capital.
