After finishing third in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season, the Gujarat Giants (GG) are looking for a fresh start. A lot of this has to do with poor results in 2023 and 2024, when the Giants finished dead last. That’s why they have decided to retain just two players and will go into the WPL 2026 mega auction with a purse of INR 9 crore.

Since the Giants have retained two foreign players, they can’t buy more than four in the auction. Of course, they need to pick up a minimum of 15 players and a maximum of 18 to fill the squad. Considering all-rounders play a massive role in women’s cricket, having them is essential.
Since they have Ashleigh Gardner, the Giants won’t target Deepti Sharma. But they’ll be going for one of the best spin all-rounders in Amelia Kerr. The Kiwi player didn’t have the best season with the bat last year, but ended up as the highest wicket-taker.

Deandra Dottin had a good outing last year, with both bat and ball. She bats in the middle order and can form a lethal partnership with Gardner. Nadine de Klerk blew up this World Cup and can play the role of a finisher who can bowl in the middle overs. She didn’t play last year but will definitely be in the starting XI this time around.
Pooja Vastrakar, who missed WPL 2025 due to injury, can hit a long ball and is a frontline pacer. Alice Capsey could be a valuable pick as well. The Englishwoman bats in the middle order, much like Kerr and Dottin.
