Team India have commenced their preparations for the Asia Cup. After drawing the England Test series, the Men in Blue had the opportunity to kick their feet up and rest for a month. Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav have had enough time to refresh, and it’s go time.
India starts Asia Cup practice
Team India reached the ICC Academy in Dubai a little while ago to hold their first practice session for the Asia Cup. The side were to arrive in batches, and every member of the squad had arrived. The management had decided against holding a camp at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence and instead opted to fly early to get assimilated to the conditions.
Since Team India had played the Champions Trophy in the UAE earlier in the year, getting familiar with the conditions won’t be an issue. With five days left before their first match of the Asia Cup against the UAE, the Men in Blue would like to get into the groove and play together as a unit.
No sponsor for Asia Cup
While the Indian team was entering the ICC Academy, one thing was confirmed: that Dream11 won’t be the title sponsor for the Asia Cup. The logo wasn’t present on the training kits, and only recently, Adidas, Team India’s clothing sponsor, had cleared all of their clothing stock that had the Dream11 logo on it.
The BCCI has already called upon a new tender, but that deal won’t be finalised until at least half of the Asia Cup is complete. That means, after a long time, Team India will be playing with a title sponsor.
