In a big heartbreak for the Indian tennis fans, ace doubles player Yuki Bhambri crashed out of the Auckland Open 2025, after losing the semis battle with his French partner Albano Olivetti on Friday. The Indo-French pair lost a tough battle vs Croatian Nikola Mektic and his Australian partner Micheal Venus 6-3, 1-6, 5-10.

Yuki Bhambri and his partner started the match well, and showed their class in the first set, winning it 6-3, despite being scores level at 3-3, at one stage. But the opponents came back hard and took the second set with utmost ease. And from there on in the match, Bhambri and his partner ran out of steam.
All Eyes on Australia Open Now
Having said that, this was still a spirited performance against the no. 1 seeded pair, which will give them a lot of confidence for the upcoming Australian Open 2025, that starts on Jan 12 in Melbourne. Meanwhile, in the quarters, Bhambri-Olivetti had beaten the English pair of Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash 3-6, 6-4, 12-10. Prior to that, in the Round of 16, the duo got the better of Dutch-English pair of Sander Arends/Luke Johnson in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

2024 had been a year of many quarters and pre-quarters appearances for Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti. At the US Open, they had lost in the round of 16 to Granollers/Zeballos. At the Almaty Open, they went down against the German pair of Schnaitter/Wallner. In the Swiss Indoor, they did reach the quarters, but the went down against Peers/Murray. Similar was the case in the last tournament at Hong Kong Open, where they lost to Rublev/Khachanov in quarters.
