Business tycoon Anand Mahindra gifted a Mahindra Scorpio-N to India’s first armless archer, Sheetal Devi. Sheetal represented India at the Paris Paralympics and has become a global inspiration by shooting arrows with her feet. She won the bronze medal in Paris as well. Anand Mahindra uploaded this moment on social media, where he was seen meeting with Sheetal Devi and her family.
Mahindra’s admiration for Sheetal Devi
Mahindra was deeply moved by Sheetal’s grit and also saw the same strength in her mother and sister. He shared, “Meeting her in person, I was struck by her determination, tenacity, and focus. It runs in the family!” To honour her journey, he presented her with the SUV and felt honoured to receive an arrow from her as a symbol of her identity. “Sheetal is an inspiration to all of us,” he added.
Achievements in Archery
Sheetal had a great campaign at the Paris Paralympics, winning a bronze in the mixed-team event with Rakesh Kumar. They narrowly defeated Italy and matched Turkey’s Paralympic record. Sheetal also came very close to setting a world record in the women’s individual competition. Additionally, she earned two golds and a silver at the 2022 Asian Para Games and a silver at the 2023 World Archery Para Championships in the Czech Republic. Her accomplishments have made her a beacon of hope and inspiration worldwide.
