FIFA WC SOUTH KOREA TEAM: One of the teams that have slowly been rising the ranks on the international stage, South Korea has started becoming a household name as they were part of the 2018 World Cup too, where they caused a big upset by defeating former champs Germany and also helped knock them out of the group stages.
Their goal will be to do something similar this time around and go through to the Round of 16.
FIFA WC SOUTH KOREA SQUAD: South Korea was expected to make it to Qatar this time around and their displays in the Qualifiers reinforced the same notion. They finished second in their group just behind Iran and only lost one game out of the 10 that they played.
They were not at their best in front of goal as they only managed 13 strikes in 10 games which were enough for them but they will need to be more clinical in front of goal. Although, their defense was quite decent, conceding only 3 goals in all their games.
SOUTH KOREA TEAM NEWS: South Korea should be starting in a 4-2-3-1 formation with their hero, Son at the tip of their attack. They are a team that likes to keep the ball but wants to progress to the opponent’s box as quickly as possible, so, the long ball is quite a lethal weapon in their armory.
They always have people running in behind, trying to get into a 1v1 with the goalkeeper, or getting isolated with the fullbacks so that they can take them on, get past them, and shoot or pass to their teammates.
Pressing up the pitch is also something that they employ against certain teams but in the big World Cup games, expect them to sit back and soak pressure, rather than leave space in behind which their opponents can then exploit.
SOUTH KOREA Team INJURY LIST: A big injury scare for South Korea is the fracture that their striker Son Heung-min suffered around his left eye. It looked as though it was a serious injury but new reports indicate that he will be fit for the World Cup in time.
FIFA WC SOUTH KOREA GROUP NEWS: South Korea is part of Group H with Portugal, Uruguay, and Ghana in the 2022 WC in Qatar this time. They will be aiming for 2nd place in the group but it won’t be easy as this group is quite competitive.
FIFA WC SOUTH KOREA Matches & Schedule: South Korea will begin their WC campaign against Uruguay on the 24th of November, then they play Ghana on the 28th, and their final game will be against Portugal on the 2nd of December.
