FIFA WC QATAR TEAM: The hosts of this edition of the World Cup, Qatar have not had a lot of history with the World Cup but will be hoping to make some history this time around, especially since they’re on home soil.
Actually, they’ve not had any history as this will be their first appearance on the biggest stage of them all. They’re in a competitive group, so it won’t be easy for them but with the backing of the home crowd, they could very well surprise a few naysayers.
FIFA WC QATAR SQUAD: Playing in their very first World Cup is a dream come true for any player who plays the sport, but with the happiness and ecstasy, also comes the pressure to deliver. It is still left to be seen if the Qataris have the tools necessary to deal with the pressure of the same.
They do have some experience in their ranks with a couple of players crossing 100 caps for their country, but most of their players ply their trade in the Middle East and do not have the exposure of playing in any other league or country.
It isn’t like they have not tasted any success as they did triumph in the Asian Cup in 2019, that too, for the very first time. The success of winning this trophy would have been a big boost for their confidence and their belief that they can come to the World Cup and give something to their fans to be happy about.
QATAR TEAM NEWS: As mentioned above, most of the Qatari National Team comprises their players playing in the Middle East and not really venturing out to play in some other league.
Their man in attack, Hassan Al-Haydos has over 150+ caps playing for Qatar and his contribution will be vital for them, if they are to go deep into the tournament. Karim Boudiaf is also another player whose contributions will be key, as he will try to control things from midfield.
QATAR Team INJURY LIST: There are no major injuries or misses for the Qatar National Team so far. They will be hoping that it stays this way through the course of the World Cup, so that they don’t miss out on their key players.
FIFA WC QATAR GROUP NEWS: The hosts will be in Group-A, as is the norm for the host country. They are joined by the Netherlands, Senegal, and Ecuador. It is quite a competitive group for a team that is making their first appearance in the World Cup and Qatar will have to give it their all if they want to make it into the Round of 16.
FIFA WC QATAR Matches & Schedule: Qatar kick-off the 2022 edition against Ecuador on 20th November 2022. Following this, they play Senegal on the 25th and the Netherlands on the 29th of the month.
