FIFA WC COSTA RICA TEAM: When you’re in a group with the likes of Spain, Germany, and Japan, many would discount your team and that is what Costa Rica will be feeling right now.

But, maybe this can work out for them as the pressure will be on the other teams rather than on them and they can focus on playing their best game and causing a couple of upsets.

FIFA WC COSTA RICA SQUAD: Costa Rica had a decent time in their World Cup Qualifying games as they only managed to finish 4th, but when you see that the top 2 teams finished on 28 points and the teams placed 3rd and 4th finished on 25 points, then you would think that they didn’t do all that bad.

They won their final 4 games of the group and established their position in the table well. 

They made the Quarter Finals in the 2014 World Cup, which for them was a massive deal, but that team compared to the 2022 one is quite different. In Russia, they failed to really leave a mark and only managed the group stages, where they were knocked out.

COSTA RICA TEAM NEWS: Costa Rica usually plays in a 4-4-2 formation, which suits the way they operate. They have wingers that like to stretch the play and use their pace to good effect.

When you have someone like Keylor Navas in goal, you have to use his experience and they give him a free hand to distribute the ball across the pitch.

Navas uses the long ball to good effect and they also use him to build up from the back, so, the goalie’s contributions will be important for them in Qatar.

FIFA WC COSTA RICA GROUP NEWS: Costa Rica would be kicking themselves that they caught themselves in a group that has Spain, Germany, and Japan. All odds are stacked against them and it doesn’t seem like they could make it out of the group stages.
