FIFA WC BELGIUM TEAM: A team that has always had talented players in their ranks but has never quite translated that talent into trophies or success. When you have players like de Bruyne, Lukaku, Hazard, Carrasco, etc, the expectations automatically shoot up from that side and the Red Devils will feel that it is high time they deliver.

It has usually been a case of “What ifs” for them and the Belgium team will be looking to turn all that around this time in Qatar.

FIFA WC BELGIUM SQUAD: Under the stewardship of Roberto Martinez, the Red Devils have performed well, but as mentioned above, they don’t have any trophies to reflect the same.

When they are in full flow, there are only a handful of teams who can stop them, as we saw in the Quarter-final of the 2018 World Cup against Brazil, where the Selecao found it hard to crack the Belgium team down.

As one would expect, the Red Devils dominated the World Cup Qualifiers as out of their 8 games, they did not lose a single one. They were in a relatively easier group and they flexed their arms to take that group by the neck.

They’ve always made it to the Quarterfinal stages but seem to stumble after that point, as even in the Euro 2020 competition, they made it to the Quarters but ended up losing to Italy. The aim will be to go deeper than this stage into the semis, possibly even the finals.

BELGIUM TEAM NEWS: The Red Devils of the international stage have been deployed in a 3-4-2-1 formation and that suits their style of play too. Patience on the ball plus keeping possession is what Belgium is good at and expect them to follow the same template this time too.

Martinez does not like to have the ball with no focus on progressing it forward, so expect them to make good use of the ball when they have it. All the focus on making sure the ball is at the right place at the right time is going to be on Kevin de Bruyne as the midfielder from Man City is having a season to remember.

If he can replicate the same form in Qatar, then the creativity department will be in safe hands.

BELGIUM Team INJURY LIST: Midfielder Alexis Saelemaekers will definitely miss the tournament owing to a knee injury. Striker Romelu Lukaku’s participation in Qatar is also in murky waters as he suffered a thigh strain after recovering from his previous injury.

It does not seem like a tournament-ending injury and he should recover in time to be called up.

FIFA WC BELGIUM GROUP NEWS: Belgium shares Group F with Croatia, Canada, and Morocco in the 2022 WC in Qatar this time. They are considered the favorites alongside Croatia this time.

FIFA WC BELGIUM Matches & Schedule: Belgium will play their first game of the World Cup against Canada on the 24th of November, followed by Morocco on the 27th and their final game of the group stage will be versus Croatia on the 1st of December.
