PV Sindhu to be back in Top 10 of BWF rankings? HERE’s what we know

PV Sindhu has been out of the top 10 of the BWF rankings for close to seven months now.

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu finally has regained her lost touch, and her two back-to-back semis finishes at Artic Open and Demark Open indicate that. Sindhu, who slipped out of the BWF top 10 rankings, for the first time since 2016 in March, will be back in the bracket after a gap of six months. With these two tournaments, the former world no. 2 Sindhu would have accumulated close to 7000 points, which would be enough for her to get back in the top 10.

As per Badmintontalk, Sindhu would leapfrog three places to be at WR-10 on Tuesday with 62640 points, when the new BWF rankings are released.

PV Sindhu’s Form in 2023

Upon her return from an injury she suffered at the CWG 2022, Sindhu was struggling to keep up with the world’s best. In fact, she found it hard to win against lower-ranked opponents. In fact, she was ousted from the first rounds of seven different tournaments this year. This certainly did impact her a great deal. After her US Open loss against Gao Fang Jie, she wrote a long post about how it had affected her.

But as they say, form is temporary, and class is permanent, Sindhu did bounce back and how. Right before the Asian Games, Sindhu trained in Bengaluru with Prakash Padukone, which brought visible changes in her game. She was moving well and played aggressive badminton. In the last two tournaments, she has beaten the former World No. 1 Nozomi Okuhara, GM Tunjung, and Supanida Kathetong, all displaying better form than her this year.
