National Games: Liquor is Cheap in Goa, but don’t drink it – Minister tells athletes

The National Games 2023 started in Goa on October 26, and will conclude on November 5.

The National Games 2023 is in full swing, and Maharashtra is coming up with a dominating performance in every event. They are at the top of the pile as far as the medal tally is concerned, way ahead of Haryana, the next-best state. As many as 10,000 athletes from 37 states and union territories are taking part in over 40 events.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the National Games 2023. Meanwhile, at another event with the participating athletes, former CM of Goa and current Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik made a hilarious statement. As per a report in India Today, during an interaction, the minister told the athletes to have fun in Goa, but not have liquor, despite it being really cheap.

“Liquor is cheap in Goa, and so are cashew nuts, but you should not drink it because you are national players.”
