India will play host to the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024, and the tournament will be held in Ranchi, the same venue where the Indian women’s hockey team recently won the Asian Champions Trophy beating Japan 4-0. The FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Games will be held from January 13 to 19.
The Indian women’s hockey team will be up against Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, the USA, Italy, and the Czech Republic in the tournament. Out of the eight teams, only the top three will make the cut to the Paris 2024 Games. Meanwhile, this is not the only FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers; the other such tournament will be held in Valencia, Spain.
Germany, at world no. 5 is the highest-ranked team in India’s group, while our girls are ranked at world no. 6. New Zealand is ranked world no. 9, Japan WR-11, Chile WR-14, USA WR-15, Italy WR-11, and Czech Republic WR-25.
