Due to an arm injury, Dan Hooker will have to wait until the new year to make his octagon comeback. He was scheduled to compete at UFC Austin. In an unusual five-round co-main event on the December 3 program, Hooker was scheduled to fight Bobby Green in an attempt to build on his hard-earned victory over Jalin Turner in July.

Hooker had to have surgery to fix a fractured arm after defeating Turner; on Monday night, he hurt the same arm again while sparring at Auckland’s City Kickboxing school.

2023 Not Really A Good Year For Dan Hooker

For the second time in 2023, Hooker has been sidelined from a fight due to an injury. At UFC 285 in March, “The Hangman” was scheduled to take on Jalin Turner; however, a fractured hand forced him to withdraw. In the end, Hooker and Turner engaged in an exciting fight at UFC 290 in July, where Hooker prevailed via split decision to increase his winning run to two.

With UFC coming back to Texas Multiple sources familiar with the promotion’s intentions confirmed to MMA Fighting that Dan Hooker will not be competing in his scheduled five-round co-main event bout at UFC Austin vs Bobby Green due to an injury. The first to report was The New Zealand Herald.

The promotion is looking for a substitute opponent for Green, according to a confirmed source with knowledge of the circumstances.

ESPN+ will broadcast UFC Austin on December 2 from Moody Center in Austin. The main event is a lightweight bout between Arman Tsarukyan and top-tier lightweight Beneil Dariush.

If Green is still on the card, he’ll try to add to his record of undefeated victories in 2023, which includes consecutive stoppage victories over Tony Ferguson and Grant Dawson.
