Ronaldo’s ‘Calma’ is Jude Bellingham’s favorite El Clasico moment

In Madrid’s 2-1 Champions League triumph over Braga on Tuesday, the 20-year-old scored his 11th goal in 12 games. Jude Bellingham is now preparing for his first competitive Clasico fixture on Saturday at Camp Nou.

The midfielder was questioned about some of his best moments from this renowned rivalry ahead of this heavyweight showdown. It didn’t take long for Jude Bellingham to select former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘calma calma’ celebration. In this game, Ronaldo’s goal helped Jose Mourinho led Real Madrid claim a 2-1 win in April 2012.

Ronaldo motioned to the home fans to calm down, as they were playing in the Camp Nou. He also pointed to his chest after that. It seems as though this moment has stuck with Jude Bellingham. The midfielder said, ‘I always remember celebrations. I remember Ronaldo at Camp Nou and [doing] calma. Stuff like that sticks with you in your head, the iconic moments.’

Not only Jude Bellingham, but his teammate Aurelien Tchouameni once said that Ronaldo’s legendary ‘calma’ celebration was his first El Clasico memory. The French midfielder made the remarks while speaking about the 38-year-old’s celebration at Camp Nou (via GOAL).

Tchouameni said, ‘My first memory of the Clasico was the celebration of Ronaldo asking for calm when scoring at the Camp Nou.’

Bellingham talks about his Real Madrid life

Jude Bellingham has been a fantastic purchase for Madrid thus far. It could be said that his £89 million ($112 million) transfer from Borussia Dortmund this summer may be considered a steal.

He is now preparing for one of the most important matches of his career. If Madrid wins, they will be four points ahead of their bitter rivals, but if they lose, Xaxi’s club will surpass Los Blancos.

Jude Bellingham said, ‘I’m ready, I’m feeling good. There’s obviously still a day and a bit to get into the best condition for the game. I had a little bit of a tweak in the last game in the Champions League, but I’m feeling good and hopefully I’ll be out there and hopefully we get the right result. I’m really excited. I’m so looking forward to it, to the atmosphere, to playing against an opponent that as a club we highly respect.’

Talking about the start of Real Madrid career, Bellingham said, ‘I’m just I’m enjoying it and, when I’m enjoying my football, I always think I play at my best, so long may it continue. I get goosebumps just thinking about [the fans singing ‘Hey Jude’]. On the pitch after I scored a goal or done a tackle or a piece of skill, and I start to hear it slowly and then louder and louder, it’s something that I’m really proud of.’

He continued, ‘I’m so grateful for the fans for how they’ve treated me coming into the club. So far it’s been a good start, but I look to continue to repay them for how they’ve welcomed me.’
