Jay Shah schedules meeting for today, Decision on IND vs PAK WC match likely

Most likely, the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan planned for October 15 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will be rescheduled to October 14.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has scheduled a meeting for today (July 27) in New Delhi. With various reports coming of India vs Pakistan (IND vs PAK) World Cup 2023 match in Ahmedabad to be rescheduled, this meeting in national capital will be of utmost importance.

The state associations hosting ODI World Cup 2023 games received a letter on Tuesday evening from the BCCI secretary Jay Shah inviting them to a conference in New Delhi on July 27.

It is being expected that the board may inform the members of the IND vs PAK revised date as well as the security issues in the area of Ahmedabad.

Jay Shah said in the letter distributed to all state associations stated that it will be better for everyone involved if they get together once more to share notes and go through any issues that need to be discussed and resolved.

“I feel it will be in the best interest of all concerned that we meet again to exchange notes and take stock of any issue which needs discussion and decision. Accordingly, you are hereby requested to attend a meeting of the World Cup hosting associations,” the letter sent to all state associations states read.

It is known that security authorities had requested a change to the schedule from the BCCI. The International Cricket Council (ICC) arranged the most anticipated game of the tournament on the first day of Navratri, a holiday that is widely observed throughout Gujarat.

When the ICC issued the World Cup schedule late last month, it included four key events for the roughly 1 lakh-seat Narendra Modi Stadium: the tournament’s opening match between New Zealand and England, India vs Pakistan, England vs Australia, and the title match.

The semifinals will be held in Mumbai and Kolkata, with the competition taking place in ten cities overall.
