6 hours waiting time: IND vs PAK ticket sale for World Cup 2023 goes haywire, Fans slam BookMyShow

Fans on social media expressed their anguish as the official online ticket provider for World Cup 2023 ‘BookMyShow’ could not provide a smooth servic

Ticket booking website BookMyShow crashed just minutes after the tickets for India’s World Cup matches went up for the sale for the Mastercard holders on August 29. The fans showed frustration on the social media platforms as most of them slammed the online ticket platform for their poor service.

Meanwhile, the India vs Pakistan match tickets were sold out in just 2.5 hours after the opening. The Men in Blue are slated to take on the arch-rivals Pakistan in their group stage clash of the marquee tournament. The match will be played at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

To note, India will exclusively host the ODI World Cup for the first time this year after, having previously co-hosted it in 1987, 1996, and 2011 alongside Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The first match of the competition is slated to be played on October 5.

Earlier as well, ‘BookMyShow’ could not provide a smooth service to the customers. Some of the fans complained that the site crashed. The opening day of ticket sales (August 25) was reserved for non-India matches which included the warm-up matches as well. The same situation occurred on Tuesday but on a bigger scale with India vs Pakistan tickets being sold.

A total of 10 teams will participate at the showcase event, the first eight having already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League. Each team plays the other nine in a round robin format with the top four qualifying for the knockout stage and semi-finals. Hosts India who have not won any ICC trophy since 2013 will have a golden opportunity to win the prized trophy in front of their home crowd.

At present, the Men in Blue are in Alur but they will be soon departing to Sri Lanka to play their opening match of the Asia Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma and Co. will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening match. The clash is set to be played on September 2 (Saturday) at the Pallekele International Stadium. On the other hand, Pakistan will take on Nepal in the opening match of the summit clash.
