Bengal Warriors vs Gujarat Giants

The Bengal Warriors put up an inspiring performance to defeat Gujarat Giants 46-27 in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 9 at the Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi in Pune on Saturday. Maninder Singh (12 points) and Shrikant Jadhav (10 points) were the top performers for the Warriors on the night.

The Bengal Warriors and Gujarat Giants played out a neck and neck contest in the opening minutes of the match and were locked at 6-6 in the 8th minute. However, Sakthivel R pulled off a couple of tackle points and helped the Warriors inch ahead at 9-8 in the 11th minute.

Deepak Hooda also joined the party as the Bengal side continued to hold the lead at 11-9. But, Captain Chandran Ranjit didn’t take his foot off the pedal and kept the Giants in the game. Rakesh also stepped up his game as the Giants stole the lead at 15-14 just before half-time.

The Giants rode on the momentum and reduced the Warriors to two players on the mat in the opening minutes of the second half. But Rakesh missed a raid, which allowed Maninder Singh to come back on the mat and help the Warriors take the lead at 20-18 in the 25th minute.

Maninder effected a multi-point raid in the 29th minute and helped his team inflict an ALL OUT and take a massive lead at 27-20. Jadhav backed up Maninder with a couple of raids as the Warriors attained a stronghold of the match at 35-23 in the 35th minute. Bengal inflicted another ALL OUT in the 39th minute and extended their lead even further. The Warriors kept raging on and eventually walked off the mat as winners of the match.

Telugu Titans vs UP Yoddhas

Despite the fact that the Titans, under pressure and lacking confidence, are stuck at the bottom of the table, the early stages of this match defied the predictions. The Titans matched the Yoddhas raid for raid, and with neither defence firing — it took almost 10 minutes for the first tackle point — the game looked set to be a high scoring encounter.

The gridlock was broken by Surender Gill, whose Super Raid caught out Vishal Bhardwaj, Parvesh Bhainswal, Mohsen Maghsoudlou and Ankit, leaving only two Titans on the mat. The first All-Out of the game duly followed as the Yoddhas took an 18-11 lead.

With the bit firmly between their teeth, they never let up and Gill in particular was superb, notching 9 points in the first half itself. The Yoddhas went into the break leading 21-15.

Early in the second half, the Titans mounted a comeback in a consolidated fashion in a way they hadn’t done before this season. Slowly they cut the lead down to one, and with just one U.P. Yoddhas player on the mat, an All-Out loomed. However, the Yoddhas’ young raider Mahipal had other ideas as his Super Raid didn’t just get the lead back for them but also helped his team recover and deny the Titans the lead.

From there on, the Yoddhas took control and slowly drained the Titans’ new found confidence again. They inflicted a second All-Out with seven minutes left to inch into a 12-point lead at 36-24. They also extended their lead in the last moments, condemning the Titans to another defeat.

Jaipur Pink Panthers vs Dabang Delhi

Rahul Chaudhari and Arjun Deshwal put on a performance for the ages to take Jaipur Pink Panthers to a convincing 57-32 victory over Dabang Delhi K.C. at the Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi in Pune on Saturday. Both the star raiders contributed with 13 points each in the match.

Rahul Chaudhari chipped in with a couple of raids as Jaipur Pink Panthers took the lead at 6-3 in the 6th minute. Soon after, the Panthers inflicted an All-Out and extended their lead even further.

However, Vijay Kumar and Ravi Kumar picked up tackle points to keep Dabang Delhi K.C. in the game at 8-12 in the 12th minute. But, Chaudhari pulled off a magnificent Super Raid, catching out Vishal, Ravi Kumar, Naveen Kumar and Krishan, in the 15th minute and soon after the Panthers inflicted another All-Out to take a massive lead at 22-11. The Panthers kept raging on and eventually led at 27-13 by the end of the first half.

Arjun Deshwal picked up a raid point in the 24th minute as the Panthers extended its lead even further at 33-18. The Panthers’ defensive unit tackled Manjeet and reduced the defending champions to just two players on the mat. Moments later, Deshwal effected a raid and helped his side inflict another All-Out to take a huge lead at 38-20 in the 28th minute.

Dabang Delhi K.C.’s players couldn’t find a way to penetrate the Panthers’ defence nor could they tackle the opposition raiders on a consistent basis as they suffered another All-Out in the 35th minute to hand the Season 1 champions an even bigger lead at 49-26. The Panthers continued to put pressure on their opponents and eventually registered a comprehensive victory.
