Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, has disclosed that her family was the victim of a terrible crime in Argentina. While on their way to the bank, armed bandits targeted the family’s grocery fund-transferring car. Antonella posted images of the terrifying episode a few hours later, emphasising her cousin’s tight escape.
Antonela’s cousin, Agustina Scaglia, was robbed forcefully in the streets of Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina, on Tuesday morning. The terrifying incident occurred on Pellegrini Avenue, where two armed guys stopped her. Roccuzzo has posted photos of the event from her relatives on social media.
“Conscious of the times we live in, where every day there are so many injustices, I am grateful that it was just one more scare. Thank you for so much love these days,” the caption said beside the photographs.
According to the MARCA, the heist was “swift and violent.” The thieves stepped out of their car and smashed one of the money-carrying vehicle’s windows. Antonela Roccuzzo’s cousin and two of her grocery employees were in the vehicle with the money, specifically two bags of cash. The criminals fled with £18,000 ($22,500) in Argentine pesos. During the attack, the robbers also fired at least one bullet and damaged one of the car windows.
“We were going from the supermarket to the bank to deposit the money,” one of them told the media. “They broke our windows and took our bags.
“There was a car for sure, because I saw them get into one. At the moment when everything started, all I heard were gunshots. When we got out we saw the bullet hole.” she added.
Unfortunately, this is not the store’s first attack. In March of last year, there were allegations of shooting and destruction at the shop, as well as threats intended at Lionel Messi. Nonetheless, the link between the two instances remains unknown, requiring continued research.
Messi recently returned to Argentina for World Cup qualifying matches against Uruguay and Brazil. Because the MLS season does not begin until February, the Inter Miami great will now have some rare time off with his family. Messi is expected to return to training in January and will play in numerous pre-season friendly before the season begins.
