Ranji Trophy Live: Is Sarfaraz’s exploits with bat enough to earn him a Test call-up? – Well, Sarfaraz has scored a staggering 900 runs in just 8 innings and is still not finished. With such insane numbers, anyone would be hoping he earns an India call-up in the Test squad.
Unfortunately, the BCCI selectors have told him to work on his fitness instead. When InsideSport quizzed on Sarfaraz’s fitness the batter replied he has made great improvement.
“I feel that I have made a good improvement in fitness. I have improved a lot compared to how I was in 2015. I have also taken very good catches in the last Ranji match. I am trying my best and when the off-season comes, I will focus more on it and try to put myself in a better position than before.
I have started understanding my body very well and the runs are also getting good. Staying on the ground for 4 days is not that easy and I am fielding well in every match,” Sarfaraz said.

Sarfaraz Khan in Ranji Trophy:
- The Mumbai batter has over 900 runs in just eight innings in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season
- His 900-plus runs have come through four centuries, and two half-centuries.
- In Ranji Trophy 2019-20, he scored 928 runs including a triple century in six matches.
- He averaged an impressive 154.66.
- However, despite showing a lot of promise, his time was limited in the IPL 2022 in Delhi Capitals colors, and failed to break into Team India.
- Selected for India A team for the South Africa tour, Sarfaraz could only manage a half-century.
