IPL 2023 LIVE Broadcast: All is not well with IPL 2023 sponsorships. Both Disney-Star and Viacom18 are struggling. InsideSport understands that around 30% of sponsorship inventory is still unsold with startups giving IPL 2023 a miss due to market slowdown. However, instead of coming on board as full-time partners, many startups are still negotiating a deal for ad spots. Follow Indian Premier League LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

As per an ET report, many consumer internet companies have decided to give IPL 2023 a miss. While Byjuy’s is already on its way out of India Team jersey sponsor, fellow edtech company Unacademy is also staying away from IPL. PhonePe, Amazon Prime, Pristyn Care, Zepto, Niyo and even music streaming giants Spotify are all giving IPL 16 a miss. While Ather Energy won’t be an IPL 2023 Broadcast sponsor, it will continue its association with defending champions Gujarat Titans.

How is it different from IPL 2022?

In IPL 2022, despite Covid-19 pandemic, Disney-Star, the sole rights holder, was flying high, securing 14 sponsors. In fact, it was a startup boom with 8 out of 14 sponsors were startups. As for ad spots, 12 out of 18 advertisers were startups including Dream11, Cred, Tata Neu.

Even IPL franchises benefited from the startup boom with 40 startups sponsoring multiple teams. Slice was one of the big sponsors as they inked a lucrative deal with five-time champions Mumbai Indians.

One stark difference will be the absence of Crypto exchanges such as CoinDCX, CoinSwitch and WazirX among others. BCCI has banned all advertisers and sponsors related to Cryptocurrency.
