Could Virat Kohli play in SAT20 after retirement? AB de Villiers hopes so

Kohli and ABD played for IPL franchise RCB for a long time together and shared a great camaradrie.

It is not possible for the Indian cricketers to be part of T20 leagues across the globe, except for the IPL, as long as they are active players, and post-retirement too, they need an NOC from the BCCI to be able to do so. But AB de Villiers wants to see former India skipper Virat Kohli play in the SA20 once he is done with his international career.

Both ABD and Virat Kohli are former RCB teammates and share a lot of mutual respect and admiration for each other. So far, Kohli has scored 7263 runs in the IPL, in 237 matches at an average of 77.25, including 7 tons and 50 fifties. Speaking to India Today in an interview, De Villiers said, “Get Virat over here.”

“Definitely, Virat. Get Virat over there. Hopefully, as soon as he’s done with his career, come and play one season in the BetWay SAT20. That would be amazing.”

Not just that De Villiers did not rule out the possibility of himself making a comeback for RCB, perhpaps not in IPL 2024, but later. “I hope so. I mean, my heart is with the RCB. I’ve played there for many, many years. I’ve got a very good connection with the fans of Bangalore, and I’ll always be appreciative for all the support and love over the years. I can’t guarantee anything, but I would absolutely love to see myself in the RCB colours again in the future,” said De Villiers.
