WATCH: After heated argument, PV Sindhu reminds Carolina Marin that ‘Dessert is on her’

The Sindhu Marin on-court fight ended on a sweet note as the Indian reminded the latter about the 'dessert'.

If one has to look back into history, PV Sindhu vs Carolina Marin encounters are perhaps the fiercest in women’s singles badminton. On Saturday, at the Denmark Open, the battle lived up to its expectations, with the Spaniard winning the contest in three games, 21-18, 19-21, 21-7. What amplified it further was an argument between the two players, fighting over a point, at the end of which the umpire had to cool down the situation by showing a yellow card to both.

Sindhu Marin Fight Ends After Match

Realising, such an intense reaction wasn’t needed, PV Sindhu was quick to douse the situation after the semis. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “Denmark’s journey ends for me at the Semi-Finals! It’s a tough loss, but I’m taking it in stride. Achieving back-to-back semi-finals makes me happy with how my game is progressing. My body feels good, and my movement feels even better. I want to express my gratitude to Prakash sir for the constant support and guidance. There’s more work to do, and I’m committed to it sir. Big shoutout to @mohammed.siyadath.ullah , @hafizhashimofficial , @zeinia_samar for their excellent work over the past two tournaments. We have one more left before our training camp, so let’s maintain the intensity. Lastly, I’d like to request everyone not to spread hate. Emotions run high in the heat of the moment, but hating is not the solution.”

Even Carolina Marin was gracious to leave the incident behind her. The Spaniard wrote, “Thanks for a good battle. Both of us were fighting to win that game but on my side I never wanted to fight against you personally. In front of everyone SORRY to show this kind of behaviour. See you soon mate!!”

At the end of it, Sindhu, in fact reminded her old friend, that the dessert was on her.

Sindhu Loses Back-to-Back Semis

In a great sign for Indian badminton, Sindhu made it to two successive semis — Denmark Open and Arctic Open. While she lost to Marin in Denmark, China’s Wang Zhi Yi won in Finland against the Indian. But these performances could be enough to bring her back in the top-10 of BWF rankings.
