Viktor Axelsen vs Kodai Naraoka 

Viktor Axelsen is aiming to extend his dominating run into in 2023 as well. He eyes his maiden title in the year. He is already the defending champion in the event. The Danish is also aiming to lift his third successive as he has won back-to-back titles in French Open and BWF World Tour finals before the Malaysian Open.

Meanwhile, 21-year old Kodai Naraoka is eyeing only his second title on the BWF Tour in his career. He last won the Vietnam Open title in 2022, which was a Super 100 event. The Japanese has been in good form. However he will face a big challenge against Axelsen. He last met the Danish in the semifinal of the BWF World Tour finals in 2022.

Akane Yamaguchi vs An Se-young 

World No.1 Akane Yamaguchi will be fighting for her second Malaysia Open title. She last won it in 2019. Like Axelsen, Yamaguchi alsi won the title in the BWF World Tour finals in 2022.

South Korea’s An-Se young has reached her maiden final in the Malaysia Open. The second seed made her way into the final after defeating fourth seed Chen Yufei in the semifinal in three games 21-12, 19-21, 21-9.

In the Men’s Doubles, Indonesia’s third seed Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Ardianto will face China’s Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang. Another Chinese pair of Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan will clash against South Korea’s Baek Ha-Na and Lee-yu-Lim in the Women’s Doubles final.

The Mixed Doubles final will have Chinese top seed Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong facing Japanese third seed Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino.
