Jyothi Surekha & Ojas Pravin won individual gold medals each in compound archery to complete a hat-trick of gold medals at Asian Games

India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Pravin showcased their supremacy in the Compound Archery as they completed a hat-trick of gold medals each at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Saturday. Both the archers completed a clean sweep by winning the individual title on Saturday, 7th October.

Jyothi Surekha wins gold in Women’s compound individual

India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam bagged gold medal in the women’s indovidual compound archery. The Indian archer defeated South Korea’s Chaewon So by a margin of 149-145.

She had earlier won the gold in the Mixed team event alongside Ojas Pravin. In the Women’s team event also she led the team to gold along with 17-year old Aditi Swami and 19-year old Parneet Kaur at the Asian Games.

Earlier in the day, Aditi Gopichand also secured bronze in the individual event. She defeated Indonesia’s Ratih Zilizati Fadhly by a margin of 146-140.

Ojas Pravin wins all Indian final in Asian Games

Ojas Pravin meanwhile edged past his idol and compatriot Abhishek Verma in the men’s individual final to complete his Asian Games gold medal hat-trick. Out of the 15 shots, Pravin shot a perfect 10 14 times and shot 9 once to secure 149 points.

Abhishek Verma came short of the gold medal by just two point as he recorded 147 points in total to settle for silver. Both Abhishek and Pravin earlier bagged the Men’s team gold medal.

With these medals, India has now aggregated 9 medals, including 6 golds in compound archery. This is the best performance registered by India in the compound archery event.
