Yonex All England Open Badminton – Indonesian Players Withdraw: In a shocking development in the last few hours, Indonesian players have withdrawn from the Yonex All England Open Badminton Championship. The decision on withdrawl of the Indonesian players was made after it came to light that one of the person travelling on-board with the Indonesian team’s flight tested positive for COVID-19. All the players have been asked to self-isolate for 10 days, confirmed Badminton World Federation (BWF).
“All Indonesian players have been withdrawn from the @YonexAllEngland . A person travelling on their inboard flight has tested positive for #COVID19, with all personnel to self-isolate for 10 days,” BWF said in a Tweet post.

The Indonesian players got in touch with BWF and Badminton England who asked the players to self-isolate as per the UK government’s National Health Service (NHS).
“While we regret this unfortunate consequence, BWF and Badminton England will continue to follow all protocols required by the UK Government and the local health authorities to ensure the safety of all participants,” Badminton World Federation said in a statement.
The results and draw will remain unchanged. Opponents facing Indonesian players in the next round will directly progress to another level.
All England Open Day 1 Badminton Live: After a disappointing start by the Indian male shuttlers, PV Sindhu cruised to 2nd Round of All England Open Badminton Championships. Sindhu defeated Soniia Cheah of Malaysia in the first round. Sindhu won 21-11, 21-17. Earlier both Kidambi Srikanth & Parupali Kashyap crashed out in the 1st round of the tournament.
Other than Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, HS Pranoy, Sameer Verma & Sai Praneet progress to 2nd round of All England Open Badminton championships.
Saina crashes Out: Saina Nehwal was also a big disappointment for India as she retired playing against Mia Blichfeld. Saina lost 1st game 8-21 and was down 4-10 when she decided to throw towel.
Kidambi Srikanth & Parupali Kashyap crashes out: Bad news is coming in for India from All England Open Badminton Championships. India’s P.Kashyap has lost in the opening round to top seed Kento Momota in straight sets. Kashyap lost 21-13, 22-20.
More shocking was the loss of 8th seed Kidambi Srikanth. Top Indian shuttler lost to Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen 21-11, 15-21, 21-12 in the first round.
