Johnny Gargano: On the August 22 episode of Monday Night RAW, Johnny Gargano returned to WWE. Unlike others, his return was kept under wraps by Chief Content Officer Triple H. Gargano, who competed in his final match for the brand at NXT WarGames in December 2021, was confronted by Austin Theory who held the Money in the Bank contract back then. The highly-rated segment ended with a super-kick from Gargano to Austin Theory.

Karrion Kross: The August 5 2022 episode of WWE SmackDown saw the return of Krrion Kross with his wife Scarlett. The duo interfered in a potential confrontation between Drew McIntyre and the Bloodline as they stopped the former short of a showdown with Roman Reigns and the Usos. As Scarlett stood near the entrance Kross launched an attack on Mcintyre from behind. Before departing, Scarlett placed an hourglass, upside down in the ring while Kross stared down at the Tribal Chief.

Bray Wyatt: The former Universal Champion made an emphatic return at Extreme Rules after weeks of WWE teasing mysterious vignettes as a build-up to the event. The promos were highly confusing and it kept the audience guessing as to who is making a comeback. He returned with a new mask and walked down to the ring in his signature style to announce the same. It was revealed by WWE CEO Stephanie McMahon that the company had hired a horror writer to plot the build-up and the actual segment which was the final act of Extreme Rules 2022.

Ronda Rousey: WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey completed her WWE return after almost three years at the Royal Rumble 2022 premium live event. The Baddest Woman on the Planet last fought at WrestleMania 35 in a “Winner Takes All” triple-threat contest against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. In the Royal Rumble event, Rousey was a surprise entrant who stood in the ring with Charlotte Flair as the final two survivors of the Women’s Rumble match. The Queen charged towards her but Rousey wasted no time in picking her up on her shoulders and eliminating her to earn a WrestleMania spot.

Cody Rhodes: The American Nightmare’s return to WWE from AEW was perhaps the best return in the current era. Cody Rhodes entered WrestleMania 38 to a massive pop-up from the crowd as he took on the Visionary Seth Rollins on night 1 of the show of shows. The match was a highly entertaining one as the former Legacy member hit Rollins with two straight Cross Rhodes. He then landed a series of punches on Rollins and the Bionic Elbow in tribute to his father, Dusty Rhodes. Finally, with a third Cross Rhodes, Cody got his victory which was a statement win for the 37-year-old.
